No News is Good News
Kathmandu - Spring 2008
We are sometimes asked why there are no news items here. It is because we are too busy! We just do not have time to keep this page up to date. This does not mean that we are not developing the software. To the contrary, it is under very active development and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future. We are constantly adding new features and those features are mentioned on the various pages of this site and our other sites.

Converters and Unicode Compatibility Released
Kathmandu - February 2007
Tibetan Computer Company released version 5.22 of TibetDoc and TibetD Reader this month. The new versions include many new features and some important fixes. The update is free to registered users of the 5.2 version. The new version includes full compatibility with all versions of Windows, including Chinese and other languages that use large character sets. The new version will work correctly under all Asian versions of Windows. The update is free to registered users of the 5.2 version.

Converters and Unicode Compatibility Released

Tibetan Computer Company released version 5.21 of TibetDoc and TibetD Reader this month. The new versions include several minor fixes for final Vista compatibility. The new version has several new converters, including a Sambhota to TCC converter, Wylie to TCC converter, and converters for full Unicode input and output.

Vista Compatible Versions Released

Tibetan Computer Company released version 5.2 of TibetDoc and TibetD Reader this month. The new version is Vista Compatible. With the new version, we also issued new versions of all our typefaces needed for Vista Compatibility.

Typefaces and Keyboards for Sanskrit Diacriticals Released

Tibetan Computer Company has released a whole kit for people needing letters with diacriticals for representing Sanskrit in transliteration. The kit includes high quality typefaces, keyboards, and full documentation. The kit is free and can be found on this site.

New Version of TibetDoc Released
Kathmandu - February 2006
Tibetan Computer Company has released version 5 of the TibetDoc wordprocessor. There are several major, new features, included a sophisticated file searching system that allows TibetDoc to be used as a reference centre while working. The pecha-making system has been fine-tuned to perfection. Many other improvements have been made. The upgrade fee for registered users is $50. Legendary Tibetan Typeface made available

Padma Karpo Translation Committee has released the typeface called "Tibetan Chogyal". This typeface, made by Tony Duff in the early 1990's and used for major projects such as the Drukpa Kagyu Heritage Project, is legendary amongst Tibetans for its beauty. It is regarded as the best electronic Tibetan typeface made to this point. The typeface has been kept for special uses only till now. It has just been released for more widespread use and is available for use with all PKTC and TCC software. Both are released in electronic editions in the same format as all other PKTC electronic products. Go here to see samples.

More Electronic Tibetan Texts: Two New Dictionaries

Padma Karpo Translation Committee has released a native Tibetan, Tibetan-Tibetan dictionary by Geshe Chodrak and the Sanskrit-Tibetan glossary called the Mahavyutpatti with English translations. More Electronic Tibetan Texts: Moonbeams of Mahamudra by Dvagpo Tashi Namgyal

Padma Karpo Translation Committee has released a famous text of the Kagyu tradition which shows the practice of Mahamudra. The text is a very long text with complete information about the Kagyu style of Mahamudra. Go to their web-site for more information.

Help for WordPerfect for DOS users

Edward Mendelson, a well-known author in the field of software, has set up a web-site with lots of help for WordPerfect for DOS users. There are new printer drivers for modern printers not otherwise available and all sorts of other, useful information. The site also provides a means for printing to any printer using Window's printer drivers instead of WordPerfect ones. More Electronic Tibetan Texts: Enumeration of Dharmas by Konchog Jigmey Wangpo

Padma Karpo Translation Committee has released a text of the great Gelugpa lama Konchog Jigmey Wangpo in electronic format. The text is a medium-sized enumeration of dharmas text, very useful for scholars and especially students. Moreover, the entire contents of the enumeration of dharmas have been included in the Illuminator Dictionary with translations. Go to their web-site for more information.

Tibetan! version 5 for Windows gets major improvement
Kathmandu - June 15, 2000
Corel Corporation has released patch 3 for WordPerfect 2000. The new patch contains fixes requested by us. With this latest patch installed, Tibetan text in WordPerfect can be exported and imported to and from other Window's applications using standard file saves and clipboard copy/pastes.
There are no changes to the Tibetan program but new versions of the manuals are available on our download pages that reflect these changes. Download the manual(s) and read the page on import/export to and from WordPerfect. The manual for Tibetan! 5 for Word has also been posted there. Go to the version 5 download page for the downloads.
