Lama Tony's group is well known for its pioneering work in the field of Tibetan
word-processing and text publishing on paper. Our Tibetan! software and fonts
have been the mainstay of Tibetan text preservation amongst Tibetans and Westerners
for many years. The software and fonts are sold
by Tibetan Computer Company.
Recently, he and his group have been developing software for publishing
and archiving Tibetan works electronically. The new software is written
for the Windows environment and consists
of TibetD
and TibetDoc. The group is now using the
new software to publish large amounts of native Tibetan works in electronic format. E.g., the entire
output of the large project Lama Tony did during the 1990's,
the Drukpa Kagyu Heritage Project, will be published
electronically by us. We are also using the software to publish our
electronic tools for Tibetan studies. We have developed electronic
dictionaries and other reference works that take advantage of the features
TibetD software. These publications herald a new era in Tibetan studies.
An important point to note is that the TibetD Reader software provided with our electronic works, and also
our TibetDoc software which can also be used to read the works, has the feature that you can click
on a Tibetan word and immediately look it up in one of our dictionaries. The electronic works can thus
be used in conjunction with our dictionaries as a way of reading and translating and generally assisting
with the understanding of the texts.
A second important point is that our
TibetDoc wordprocessing
software can be used to make pecha from the Tibetan texts. Simply copy and paste a text from the
Reader into TibetDoc, press a button, and the whole text will appear in proper, pecha format. This
can then be printed, etc. In this way, our electronic texts actually become a central resource
which can then be used for electronic study or as a source for making pecha or books of the same.
A third important point is that TibetD Reader and TibetDoc can be used as the basis
for a powerful reference library using our various electronic works.

We have a number of dictionaries and lexical works
available. Click here to go to our dictionaries page.

as well as dharma texts. At the moment, we have two selections of texts:
