2. The Text and Commentary in English Translation: Electronic Edition
Translations and research by Andreas Kretschmar
We are pleased to present the particularly fine translation work of our colleague
Andreas Kretschmar, a long time Tibetan translator. Andreas is a
student of the dharma with many years of experience as a Tibetan
translator. He has undertaken the major project of making a translation
of Shantideva's text and a commentary to it. He chose the Tibetan
commentary by Khenpo Kunpal (1862-1943), which is the commentary
most used in the Nyingma school these days. Khenpo Kunpal was a direct
student of Paltrül Rinpoche (1808-1887). In addition, Andreas
has amassed his own commentary to each of these based on explanations
received from various, modern-day teachers. The work is not completed
yet. The remaining sections will be made available here as they are
finished.
Andreas takes pleasure in presenting these files to
you for free, per our age-old buddhist tradition. However, although the
work is being offered free, the work is still protected by copyrights
and there are some restrictions on how it may be used. Please read the
copyright notice before you download the main files and then observe
the author's requirements.
