Mindrolling Monastery in India

Ogmin Ogyen Mindrolling monastery in India monks practices Nyingmapa tradition, the ancient tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Ogmin Ogyen Mindrolling monastery in Tibet was first founded by Ogyen Terdag Lingpa, also known as Rigzin Gyurme Dorji. Born in 1646, he was incarnation of the first learned translator of Tibet, the great translator Vairochana. Having perfected in his learning, Terdag Lingpa received numerous oral lineage transmissions and treasure teachings of Nyingmapa tradition from His Holiness the great fifth Dalai Lama. In return, he offered all of his profound treasure teachings newly discovered by himself to the fifth Dalai Lama and thus, shared 'teacher & student' relationship with the great fifth Dalai Lama.
That marked the auspicious beginning of bringing happiness in Tibet and Terdag Lingpa subsequently established Ogmin Ogyen Mindrolling monastery in the Iron Dog year of 1671 when he twenty-five years old.
About three hundred monks were recruited for the first time. With their tremendous gratitude of exclusively preserving and promoting the oral lineage transmissions & sacred treasure teachings of the ancient tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, the monastery gradually became the source of Nyingmapa's teachings and it has since been highly acclaimed by all the practitioners of Nyingmapa tradition.

Despite the considerable decline the monastery suffered after the Chinese occupation of Tibet in 1959, we have had wonderful opportunity to re-establish Ogmin Ogyen Mindrolling in exile under the auspices of His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama and the timely support from the government of India. With His Holiness the Eleventh Mindrolling Trichen (the supreme throne holder) as the head of our monastery along with the eminent figures including His Eminence Khochhen Rinpoche, His Eminence Khenchen Rinpoche, Jetsun la (the two daughters of Trichen Rinpoche) and others, our monastery has the total of about five hundred monks practicing the teachings of Buddha in general and Nyingma tradition in particular.
